I have been learning, struggling, evaluating and experiencing design all my life.
Truly.
I am not someone who went to school to become a designer. I went to art school to learn how to become a better artist. To live with myself and the creative that matures with me on a daily basis. I wanted to learn the history and principles of art and study the artists and designers who made the choice to live by their work.
I am inspired Mark Rothko, Andrew Wyeth and Mike and Doug Starn.
I was classically trained with cameras and paste up as a graphic artist. These Typographic Mechanicals are original art by me and are a look back to the original design process. This is the raw level process of image building with found graphic pieces placed into a design relationship arrangement. Printed typographic and graphic elements are critically rearranged into graphic paste up designs that use core design principles in the arrangements. I love the real and raw pull each one has, you can feel and see the various relationships of each element. Powerful.
The pieces look beautiful in an 11 x 14 white frame behind glass.
Each piece is unframed and will be shipped in a cardboard flat.
