I have been learning, struggling, evaluating and experiencing design all my life.
Truly.
I am not someone who went to school to become a designer. I went to art school to learn how to become a better artist. To live with myself and the creative that matures with me on a daily basis. I wanted to learn the history and principles of art and study the artists and designers who made the choice to live by their work.
I am inspired Mark Rothko, Andrew Wyeth and Mike and Doug Starn.
Surviving America
Initial animation design frames for the opening title sequence for Nat Geo's "Surviving America"
I worked together with Clarke James and Guy Cappicci at Hive FX to create this initial feel and texture. These frames were style frames and did not show the animation progression yet. We had to show design direction and treatment ideas that supported the shows hard edge and mechanical look and feel.
The show was about competitive engineering using found objects to build means of transportation to travels across the destinational rivers and trails of America, high lighting the destination along the way.
